2. Wellness Checks:
Routine wellness checks are fundamental to maintaining the health of your child. These visits allow our pediatricians to monitor growth and development, discuss nutrition and safety, administer necessary vaccinations, and detect any potential health issues early on. Omega Pediatrics at Marietta is committed to forming a partnership with parents to support the physical and emotional well-being of their children from birth through adolescence.

3. Acute and Preventive Care:
Our clinic is equipped to handle acute pediatric conditions ranging from infections and injuries to sudden illnesses. We emphasize preventive care through regular health assessments, nutritional advice, and guidance on physical activity, all tailored to prevent illness and promote lifelong health habits.
We have a number of tools that we use to optimize our developmental surveillance for children especially in their first 6 years of life. To some minimalists, this may sound like an overkill, but we pride ourselves as being able to detect any deviation from normal development in a child faster and more promptly than most medical practices in the country. That is because we screen based on need not based on whether that extra service will be paid for by insurance or not.

4. Chronic Disease Management:
Managing chronic conditions in children requires consistent, specialized care and support. Omega Pediatrics offers comprehensive management plans for chronic diseases such as asthma, ADHD, depression and allergies. Our approach involves thorough diagnostics, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing monitoring to manage symptoms and enhance quality of life.
We also ensure that we collaborate with specialists in speech and motor development to foster quick intervention in children before they get too old.

5. Specialized Services:

  • Lactation Services: To support new mothers and infants, we provide lactation consulting to address any breastfeeding challenges, ensuring both mother and baby are comfortable and well-informed.
  • Medical Ear Piercings: We offer safe and sterile ear piercings for infants and older children in a controlled, clinical environment, reducing the risk of infection and complications. This is offered outside the normal clinical care, but delivered with similar precision and is often physician administered.
  • Newborn Circumcision: Performed by our skilled and very experienced pediatrician, newborn circumcision is available for families choosing this option for their male infants, providing care in a safe and supportive setting. This is only available in the first 31 days of life if the family chooses not to do it while in the birthing hospital.
  • Obesity Medicine: Recognizing the growing concern of obesity in children, our practice provides specialized care in obesity medicine. We focus on preventive strategies, nutritional counseling, and treatment plans to manage and reduce the risks associated with childhood obesity. Our care is quite robust, evidence based and quite effective. Dr. Michael Nwaneri, is board certified in both General Pediatrics and Obesity Medicine, making our team quite qualified to deliver weight loss services to the entire family.

Patient and Parent Resources at Omega Pediatrics Marietta

Omega Pediatrics Marietta is committed to supporting not only the health of our young patients but also the well-being and education of their parents. Our practice provides a comprehensive suite of resources designed to assist families in navigating the complexities of child healthcare, from first-time visits to managing common illnesses. The content to support parents on our website touches on most important areas of health for parents and families. We also ensure that we provide even more materials at patient visits.

1. Tips for First-Time Visits:

  • Preparation: We encourage parents to prepare a list of questions or concerns they may have about their child’s health ahead of the visit. This helps ensure that no critical topics are overlooked during the consultation.
  • Documentation: It is helpful to bring any medical records, if not already uploaded, a list of medications your child is currently taking, and a record of their immunization history especially if from out-of-state. We ask that such shot records be forwarded a week or more ahead of the first visit so that our team can add it to the Georgia Immunization Registry, or GRITS. For newborns, bringing the hospital discharge summary can be very useful and is compulsory if you want your child to be seen.
  • Arrival: Arriving early can help reduce any last-minute stress and gives you ample time to complete any necessary paperwork. This is also a great time to discuss with your child what they can expect during their visit if they are old enough to understand. We technically do not expect you to wait long but we often advice families to plan a 90 minute window for a visit especially if it is wellness check. This is to ensure that we are able to provide all the care that we think are pertinent to a comprehensive check up. Demanding a rushed visit simply short-changes your child and gives your child low quality care. We are very thorough so be ready to work with us to get all the benefits of a wellness check visit.

2. Vaccine Schedules:

  • Omega Pediatrics adheres to the immunization schedules recommended by the CDC, which are designed to protect children from a variety of serious illnesses. We provide a detailed schedule on our website and in our office, and our staff is always available to answer any questions parents might have about vaccinations.
  • We also understand that families are more and more wanting to have “Vaccine-friendly pediatricians” which may mean clinics that will listen to parents who have objections, exceptions or rejection of vaccines. We have families who are of that opinion and we do not discard all the other care that we can provide because of that. However we still provide vaccine information as we are professionally required to and we answer questions related to vaccines.

3. Managing Common Illnesses:

  • Education on Symptoms: We offer guidance on recognizing the symptoms of common illnesses such as the flu, colds, ear infections, and allergies. Understanding what is normal and when to seek medical help is crucial for parents.
  • Home Care Strategies: For minor ailments, we provide advice on how to care for a child at home, when to administer over-the-counter medications, and effective home remedies.
  • When to Visit the Doctor: We also educate parents on signs that indicate a need for professional medical attention, helping them make informed decisions about their child’s health.

4. Downloadable Resources and Blogs:

  • Handouts, Infographics and Checklists: Our website features downloadable resources such as checklists for developmental milestones, nutrition guides, and safety tips. These resources are designed to be handy references that parents can consult at home.
  • Regular Health Updates: Our blog is regularly updated with articles on pediatric health, seasonal tips for child care, updates on new treatments or vaccines, and insights into child wellness and safety. These posts are aimed at keeping our families informed and engaged with the latest in child health care. We also offer a newsletter which is very popular among parents.

At Omega Pediatrics, we believe that informed parents are empowered parents. By providing these resources, we aim to enhance the partnership between our healthcare team and the families we serve, ensuring that every child receives the best possible care both in and out of our office.
